With the most recent episode being the last episode for several months, /mlp/ needed a new image to shitpost across the board. It just happened that one of the more recent episodes featured Starlight Glimmer's face, up close and personal, that, for some reason, stuck with people. The end result included a massive amount of people posting variations of the above image across the board.

While quite a few people have partaken in editing and posting her face on threads, glimmerposting has been met with some resistance. One user has been noted with saying that that it seemed that Glimmerfags want to be "hated more than Faust, Shimmer, and EQG fags." At least one mod has taken up deleting glimmerpost threads, likely due to spam.
