Lauren Faust Charity Auction sold for $3600 - Winner Doesn't have the money. Meet Cole

Last night, Lauren Faust joined Tara Strong and a laundry list of #horsefamous fan-VA's, on "The Old Gray Mare" podcast, to raise money for the Wildlife Learning Center. Up for auction, was a rare opportunity - the chance to have artwork of your own OC, drawn by Lauren herself. Right off the bat, this commission was expected to pull in a few grand, and everyone hoped that the character would be something inspiring. At the end of the show, the high bid hit $3604, the winner? A brony in Canada named "Cole" or "thereallynewmop".

This would be a very generous gesture....if he actually paid up.
Let's meet Cole.

From his DeviantArt (which was used to place the bid in the charity auction), this is Cole's OC.
Your response is probably similar to everyone else's. THIS is the character that Lauren was going to have to draw.

Stunning.

And she was going to! Here she is on DeviantArt, telling the guy he "rocked" for his generosity.

And we would be inclined to agree with her! But shortly after placing and confirming his winning bid in this charity auction to help animals, our artistically-challenged philanthropist...disappeared.
This, of course, is not shit that the community tends to tolerate, and so a search ensues for any form of contact information for the bidder. Was it a troll account? Was it a hacked DA?
We wish we could tell you it was.

The truth is far more cringeworthy.

First, anons looked deeper into his DeviantArt account, to see if it was truly an active individual. It was. Has been for years. Above is a selection of some of Cole's "artwork". In the corners you can see where he made tributes to Everfree Network, Equestria Daily, and the Terrorist Attacks of September 11th.

Still in search of contact info, the concerned anons looked into his DeviantArt journal.
They found only fanfiction and complaints about Youtube.

Deviantart was getting them nowhere, so they expanded their search to the internet at large.

There, they found his Soundcloud.

And his Tumblr

And his MLP Forums account (in which he claims to be 23 years old).

If you were curious, his interests include PewDiePie, Sonic the Hedgehog, and The Wiggles.

They also found his steam account and several others, but nothing in the way of contact info, to retrieve the funds for the charity.

Until they found his facebook.

Yep, Cole is a real person, but he's definitely not 23.

From here people were able to contact him, but not before learning more about his interests.
Interests which include Justin Bieber and Rainbow Dash.

And Everfree Network, and "Journey of the Spark"

And, apparently Jose Mendoza...

Finally the charity organizers were able to reach him about his massive bid for the Wildlife center.

Which he is not going to honor, because apparently this kid doesn't even have a credit card.

By the way, this kid has over 2000 twitter followers, on an account where you can learn the fascinating backstory to the OC that will NOT have art made of it now.

Oh thank you for clearing that up.

This entire ordeal has created more questions than it answered.
Will the charity get it's money?
Will it go to the second place bidder? Is he even obligated to honor his bid now?
How old IS Cole?
Did he even know he was bidding with real money?
WAS HE GOING TO ASK HIS PARENTS FOR IT?
What the hell is going on in THIS?

Because of how many things are unclear right now, and because of how badly the Wildlife Center needs this money, you can donate to the cause using the link below.

    1. Yeah, the only thing more dumbfounding than this, is the fact "DA comments section" was chosen to be a good format for an auction.

      Delete
    2. It should have been a raffle, ie pay upfront, for a chance to win

      Delete
    3. Actually what's more dumbfounding than this is the existence of DeviantArt auctions for already created OC characters.

      For example,
      http://resadoptables.deviantart.com/gallery/

      Delete
    4. Actually, I considered a raffle. That was not do-able. Raffles are categorised as "gambling" by many states' laws, and thus illegal except under certain regulated circumstances. Auctions are much easier to work in a manner that doesn't involve legal complications.

TOGM has always held its auctions via dA comments. We've done this around 8 times before. We never had a problem. Lauren just brought out all the wackies.

For the record, I've seen similar deadbeat crap happen on even eBay, so things really wouldn't have been much better even there. Sure, eBay bids have the force of law behind them, but technically so did this ("written contract" and all), and in the end, legal enforceability is only useful if you actually want to go to court.

Which I'd rather not do, really. Not about something this stupid, anyways.

#2 and/or #3 bidder are getting it; little to no money is going to be lost; the high bid will still be over $3,500. It happens.

      Delete
    5. What a bunch of bullshit.

Legal implications? What things like: accountability on both the bidder and seller, an actual way of transferring funds, and a reputable and fair manner of bidding? Are you so self-absorbed you can't even admit you fucked up?

But hey, yea it's other people's fault you're an incompetent moron, right?

    5. "Trolling" implies an intention to get a reaction out of you. Anon 1 is just telling it like is, from what I can see. "Autistic" and "faggot" may be insults in this context, but they're not being misused. That's just anon vernacular. It's not trolling, it's called "being from 4chan", which you're obviously not, so I've got to wonder why you're even here.

      Delete
    9. Here. On Horse News. Most people think you're an autistic underage newfag. Yes, it's the shitposting, but it's also the unironic Sonic the Hedgehog recolour avatar. It really doesn't do you any favours. Neither does having a name at all, for that matter, but I guess my standards are too high if I honestly expect you to know why namefags are frowned upon when you clearly don't know anything about where you are.

      Delete
    10. I know one thing about where I am.

You guys think you're important and different from everyone. When really, you sound the same as the assholes on every other site.

I bet I can even guess exactly what your comment would've been if I left it at that. 99.99999% of the internet has never said a word to me. But 65% of comments I see are from self-righteous shits that sound just. like. you.

As for having a name, sorry if I don't hide behind being anonymous when I go around telling people exactly what I think of them.

      Thanks for playing. Next contestant.

      Delete
    11. If I did have a name, what exactly would I have to fear? You telling your friends on DeviantArt that I'm a mean poopy head? No. The purpose of anonymity is that identities are irrelevant. On most *chans, namefaggotry is only accepted if it's important to know who's who in a thread, otherwise it's just drawing attention to yourself, which also makes sure that none of your faggotry is ever forgotten and always remains attatched to your name. Now I can pre-judge you, whereas if you were anon, I'd be forced to judge all your comments on their own merits. They'd still be vacuous shitposting comments, but at least I wouldn't know they were all you, and you wouldn't be constantly followed by your reputation on this site.

And it's sad that I have to explain this, Thenames, but the real difference between us and that other 99.99999% you mentioned is that this site isn't a hugbox and we don't care about your feelings. That's it. You're not being insulted because of elitism. You're being insulted because you're a clueless underage moron who expects special treatment from people who hate special snowflakes like you.

All I'm saying is, for Christ's sake, if you want to hang out on a site, at least lurk a while and learn the rules first, otherwise you're just embarassing yourself for all the world to see.

      Delete
    12. And since that issue is apparently resolved to your satisfaction, I repeat my question.

      Why are you here?

      Delete
    13. Hey. Thenames. Just drop it already. Don't dig yourself deeper. Sometimes, attaching your name to what you say just really does not matter. Sometimes, keeping your words anonymous is just better for everyone.

Stop now before you make this worse for yourself/make yourself look worse.

Sorry for the TLDR comment, but you said a lot of stupid shit since I was last here, so I've got a lot to reply to.

      >A bunch of random people replying to a comment stream just gives it attention. You want it to end, quit hitting people's inboxes by replying to it.

You seem to have confused my goals with yours. I don't want the comment thread to end because the comments annoy or bore me or I want it to stop getting attention. That's what YOU want. I want it to end because if you stopped replying to me, that would be a sign that you're actually absorbing my words and learning your lesson (one of many such signs that I'd accept), and if we ever see each other again, maybe next time you won't be such a faggot. That's what I get out of it. A chance to educate the youth of Canada.

      >I'm here because I fucking feel like it. Everyone has free will, get used to it.

That's not really a reason, you know.

      >I know why YOU'RE here. You're trying to get the last word as some form of spiritual sign of empowerment.

Spiritual sign of empowerment? Where did that come from? I'm here to get you to stop being a faggot, like I said. Getting the last word is nice and all, but I don't really need it to feel validated.

In fact, getting the last word in seems to be the only reason that YOU made that last reply. I don't see why else you'd respond to the other anon.

      Are you projecting, Thenames?

      >For a second I thought you guys would do the smart thing. The smart thing being don't say anything. Make me wrong, make me look like an ass, maybe actually make me learn something. It's unfortunate that you didn't.

How is that smart? In what way is replying to you a bad thing for us? You're the one who gets assmad about it. And how are we supposed to "actually make [you] learn something" by not replying? That would teach you nothing. In fact, it'd be negative reinforcement, because it'd leave you thinking you were in the right by sperging all over the comments like you have been doing.

      >Still though, thanks for coming by. This conversation got way too far off-topic and that started because some rip-off doesn't understand free will. Haveagoodone!(credits)

This is unrelated to anything else, by the way, but I thought I'd also inform you that you aren't funny. Your sarcasm isn't funny. Your running joke about acting like a gameshow host isn't funny.

The way you pretend to act aloof while actually being really obviously mad IS funny, but only because you didn't intend it to be.

I'm not saying this to be mean. This is genuine advice: Never go into comedy, or any creative field for that matter. You have no imagination. You do roleplay a Sonic recolour, after all. Go to college. Train in a practical field like maths or science. Get a job that requires only logical, deductive or practical skills from you. You don't need to work in an office for the rest of your life or anything. I'm just saying, you have no hope as a creative of any kind.

I am disappointed to see that you're a follower of the fingers in your ears and "lol u got no life" approach to arguing, but that's okay. I also did that when I was a kid, and I know you'll grow out of it eventually.

  14. It's hilarious PurpleTinker shit talks BronyCon all the time but this shows once again he's just an incompetent, mentally ill transsexual.

    1. listen buddy everyone who hates purple tinker is either stupid and jealous of her massive intellect, just like the kids in her non-gifted classes in high school (where purple tinker is mentally stuck) or only hates her because they're transphobes! certainly not because of anything she did to them

    2. Tinker is a fag

    3. Fag? Fag ! Why is that always the fighting words of stupid idiots who don't have anything better to do then call people "Fags" or "Faggots" which technically in Britain mean a cigarette so fuck off with your homophobic piece of shit! I bet your parents are sooooooooooo proud of aren't they. I say good day sir!

    4. I didn't know Tinker was a type of cigarette... that's nice but I don't smoke!

  15. Never bid money in an auction that you aren't willing to actually spend. Never bid money you don't have. Don't bid on things you don't actually want. These should be common sense.

  17. Purple Tinker is absolutely garbage at organizing things like this. This entire thing was a clusterfuck.

  18. why are we blaming the guy who didn't pay instead of the massive autist who has fucked over more organizations/charity events than we can count, purple tinker? why the fuck would deviantart be the best place to hold this, you gigantic retard? (I don't believe for a minute that she got into any "gifted classes" either, maybe she's mistaking "special ed" for "gifted")

    1. To PurpleTinker's credit, every involvement is either cringe inducing or a complete failure - both of which are huge drama magnets. HN would lose a great deal of writing material without Tinker.

    2. when did they last write an article about the fandom's biggest lolcow?

they didn't, because for whatever reason, horse news is riding her removable dick

    3. I think it's the Chris-chan Effect: So long as there are bigger, easier targets, Purple Tinker can get away with being a incompetent two-faced bumblefuck.

That, or they mistake his lack of shame for actual coolness. I guess mingling on 4chan sometimes completely cancels out throwing a fit over saying BronyCon staff saying their prayers go out to terrorism victims, or supporting DWM when he realized how popular it was, or etcetera and etcetera.

  35. He's been in the PonyvilleFM Discord chat for a while now, and he's easily the most cringey and autistic person there by a significant margin. Had no idea he was quite this level of retarded, though - although I can't say I'm surprised.

  37. I know this old but fun fact, this guy used to be in a discord I'm in. Knew the guy personally for a bit, He's a huge BTS. k-pop dumb ass and at one point some guy actually tried to impersonate him and his father, as a mater of fact, the impostor actually manged to dox him. He was became a huge burden to everyone in our discord and we eventually banned him because he became too fucking autistic for us. The fact that we in that discord just found out about this gives us even more reason to hate him. I wonder if he's one of those idiot's who still thinks Toonkritic can be redeemed.
