An Open Letter to Horse-News -- RE: Recent Tumblr Situation

Earlier this evening, a Horse-News writer posted about the latest in an ongoing struggle in ideologies, between the social justice warriors (and brony-hating neo-feminists) of Tumblr, and the often-irreverent Anons from the birthplace of the fandom: 4chan.

Through reading the comments across many outlets, it has become apparent that many of those involved do not understand one's side of the argument oftentimes, and have discounted their opinions as worthless because of it. As a result, one person has seen fit to send HN a letter, titled "Why We Laugh At Rape Jokes, and Why Pinkie Would Too" in an attempt to explain, what they personally see as the "other side" of the dispute.

The letter is reposted in its entirety below.

"Why We Laugh At Rape Jokes, and Why Pinkie Would Too"

We stand at the precipice of another hilarious tumblr shitfit. I feel now would be a good time to point out why exactly Pinkie Pie would not only laugh at rape jokes, but almost certainly make them herself. We look through the wisdom of the ancients as seen in the first season, to the first dumb song we horsefuckers memorized. Giggle at the Ghostie.
When you're afraid of something, you don't hide under your pillow. You fucking pull that shit into the light of day and laugh your ass off at how fucking stupid it is. When you live in fear of something you give it power over you. When you make something a joke, you have power over it. As some anon elegantly put it, “Rape isn't funny but >Rape is hilarious.”
Laughter isn't just about making people feel good, it also banishes ridiculous delusions of danger and robs dark things of the power that is gained through fear. What so many people so willingly forget is this, laughing at something and fighting it are not mutually exclusive actions. So often these morons will tell you this, “Rape isn't about sex, it is only ever about power!” So laugh at that shit. Whats more dis-empowering than being laughed at? We aren't laughing at rape victims, we're laughing at rape. Unless rape is your tool, unless rape is what gives you power, you have no reason to fear people laughing at it.
Which brings us to something real twisted. The SJ movement needs rape.
It stands as one of the prime staples of their bullshit. Racism, Sexism, Classism, Ableism, and Rape. If the other four are legs to the SJW beast, Rape is the throbbing erection. They use accusations of Rape apology as the end all silencer for ideas the go against their own. Wielding it they spread their seeds to the minds of people to scared to stand up to phenomenally stupid ideas. When we make rape jokes, we threaten their throbbing horsecock. If rape didn't command complete fear in the hearts of people, they would lose their greatest weapon. The continuation of their censorship of rape jokes may mean victims will have a harder time moving past a traumatic event. It might mean that perpetrators will always have access to the power they crave, but surely if they keep their most powerful weapon it all will be worth it! We laugh at them. We laugh at rape. We might laugh at all these things to strike a real blow against them. We might not do it for any sort of altruistic purpose, the jokes could just be pretty fucking funny. In either case, our laughter will always be more defensible than their fear mongering.

    1. There is always TL;DR

Especially when spaghetti to this magnitude is involved.

    2. He's right, you know, I'm still trying to clean it off the ceiling.
The TL:DR is, "People can use humor to cope with hardship and prevent people from claiming power through fear. Also the SJ movement is full of shit but we already knew that."

    1. HN is quite clearly posting a letter from a reader and treating it as such. Who agrees with it or not is a separate issue entirely.

    2. I'm pretty sure OP is talking about morons like this: http://i.imgur.com/jhtoCBl.png

People cope in different ways. Believe it or not, there are a numerous amount of rape survivors that cope with their experience by making mockeries of it. It's their way of easing their pain.

So the bottom line is to stop trying to speak for rape victims.

    >as one of the four legs of the SJW movement
    >implying the mostly pampered middle class SJWs give a shit about class issues
Sure you may see them railing against "pro-cishet male capitalist system" on occasion but at best they're just tossing out buzzwords to sound smarter.
    Otherwise 10/10.

  14. My friend was raped, and although she was really sensitive about it she is now churning out a least one rape joke a week. Feminists, your opinions are not facts and even if they were they still wouldn't apply to everyone.
