My Little Brony: Fandom is Magic - a Q&A with Sunset Studios

Last week, HN became aware of a twitter account called @BronyMovie accompanied by a teaser trailer for an upcoming film. Wanting to know more, we contacted the producers at Sunset Studios who gave us some insight about the project. Turns out it's a documentary and will be coming out sooner than you might expect! Q&A below.

What is "#BroniesUnite"?

#BroniesUnite is the call for the Brony community, like many of the featured individuals in the show, to share their stories in common with other bronies and with non-bronies. We invite the community to share fan art, music, story, and other creations with us online on social media such as Twitter and Facebook using this hashtag so that we can help share your stories and expressions from the Brony Community.

Is it a documentary or an original story?

MY LITTLE BRONY: FANDOM IS MAGIC is a short pop-culture stylized documentary bringing Bronies to the mainstream masses. The special follows the formats of many music and pop network shows of this style of television and media. The piece features part interviews with members of the Brony community, along with relatable reference to pop-culture and the My Little Pony show itself.

How far is the project into production?

The production on MLB is complete!

When is the expected release?

MY LITTLE BRONY: FANDOM IS MAGIC will be available for purchase, download, or rental exclusively through Amazon and Amazon Video on Demand on December 12th.

Where will it be seen?

This is a worldwide media release. So anyone who has the ability to log onto Amazon can rent or purchase their copy.

How did the studio encounter the Brony Fandom?

Bronies were a new experience for many of us at Sunset, however their were a few who were well versed in the community. We screened the special and the team thought it was a fun relevant piece to share with mainstream audiences.

Are any of the crew at Sunset Studios pony fans?

Absolutely! And some who weren't before have found the community of fans to be a fun group.

Any notable names on cast?

This piece is more in line with the pop-culture style shows you would see on mainstream music/culture networks and generally we include "real individuals" as opposed to hired actors. Keeps the show grounded in personal experiences which is exactly what we wanted to share with audiences.

Anywhere that readers can learn more?

Readers can find out more at www.mylittlebronymovie.com and on Twitter and Facebook. Additionally, they can signup for the studio Newsletter to get updates on MLB and other upcoming Sunset Studios films and media.

Anything you would like people to know about the project?

Check out the teaser on YouTube and share with you friends. If they don't know what Bronies are all about tell them to check out the DVD. Its a great way to show them what they are missing out on!

  4. Jesus can we not? I feel these documentaries get more and more autistic each time. And from the looks of that land whale and that cuckold I think my theory will stand with this one.

    1. 4chan doesn't own everything bro. It may have had some origins there, but things grow and change. You have to let them go sometimes and be what they be.

  9. What is this, fucking #12 in the list of brony documentaries? Are doc.'s just incredibility easy to make or something? Because other than that I cannot think of a reason why there would be fucking 6 gorillion documentaries on a single fucking fandom that has only existed 3 years.

  12. So, like, is this an old post you had lying around or did someone seriously go "It's nearly 2015. You know what's still relevent? BRONIES! That's radical to the max, daddio!"?

Because fucking seriously, someone on YouTube already did a documentary about bronies several years ago, it talked about the entire franchise, it's not retarded, you can watch for free, and it was FUCKING RELEVENT WHEN IT WAS RELEASED.
