BUCK Write Up: The horrors I saw in Britbong Land.

The middle symbol; is that no dildos?
IT WAS A LONG WEEKEND OF WALKING. And yes it was because of Knighty (the sellout from FimFiction) who kept like disappearing and stuff which was really nothing to do with the con but a big shoutout-fuckyou to Knighty for doing that sort of shit to me.

But yes, it all started on a normal Friday except that the Manchester Central expo center was about to become riddled with sweat, autism, more sweat and hair. And indeed it did; our first bit of spaghetti begins with an unnamed man (literally unnamed - nobody knows his real name :c) who managed to get into the guest room. He then proceeded to harass guests until he was asked for his wristband where he further lied until BUCK staff worked out he was full of shit and banned him from the convention. Which is some evidence of "how2runcon"'ing from the organizers since their #Proffessional interview with HN.

Back from the spaghetti, the first Friday of BUCK (the "Summer Sun Celebration") ran incredibly well and according to some friends who had gone to other cons it really did "make other small horse convention music events look like school discos". Here's a picture because this is supposed to be a semi serious write up:

So ye, that was great. Some very good sets from very good musicians, including the ones with the guitars, the ones with the dubsteps and the one who said thank you so much we wanted to start a drinking game. Great first night, although I got back at 1am and I was not really feeling the idea of getting up at 8:30 am to start walking around all day again. The first actual day of the con was okay, however it seemed to be the general feel that the events weren't very good. Including the terrible panel that was lead by Knighty who was really not being discreet about his poundland deal.
Knighty wearing a poundland badge. His panel was just him talking about poundland. 0/10 would not panel again.
UH RIGHT. It was now the charity auction. And to nobodies surprise, Knighty had bought a Derpy Plush for about $1500 (820 GBP). According to an official BUCK source, upon investigating the affordability to prevent credit card fraud, it was funded through his poundland deal therefore making the Derpy Hooves technically property of Poundland. Anyway so yeah I got a bit ill on Saturday as my legs were pretty much jelly and I was struggling to stand so I went home and missed the lunar eclipse. Apparently TeiThePony's set was good according to an expert source. Can't comment on something I didn't see yo, although that is pretty much how this entire sight is ran.

SECOND DAY. And it was a lot calmer. I'd literally gone to nothing except the Dave Polsky panel where he probably forgot this is a pony convention and not a philosophy lecture. And his Q&A was full of lots of spaghetti as well. Unfortunately nothing beating the world record of "most spaghetti panel question":
It was only towards the ending ceremony where all the BUCK staff got onto the stage and sang and danced to their barbaric, depriving ritual song that the convention had ended. And then I went home.

So on that note, I rate BUCK 8/10 spaghettis. The SSC was great, it was great to see my friends but the venue and schedule needs vast improvements in any future events.

Oh, this as well:
Terrible ball pit not even balls they're balloons and there is only 13 in there.

    1. Off-topic fun fact: E-cigs might be worse than normal ones. Bribed FDA tests the liquid, but not the smoke from the liquid.

  2. >venue and schedule needs vast improvements

Lol, they shelled out $150 000 for the venue. And how could they fuck up the schedule, this is their third time... Probably for the better that they never do another convention.

  6. I was on the BUCK tech team - we were volunteers. Health and safety wouldnt let us raise the truss any higher.

  7. Buck lighting manager here, we were all volunteers not a single person on any team was actually paid for there time preparing or at BUCK, that lighting truss was designed in my free time and had to be redesigned on the day as the company we hired it from wanted things changed almost completely for safety reasons. It was so low because the venue simply refused to allow us to have it any higher.
TLDR, was built by volunteers not an outside company, venue said no to having it higher, even though we asked for it to be about 25-30% higher originally

  8. Meh, that article was 2/10 on the butthurt scale. try harder plz, I need to refill my vat of Brony tears.

  9. In other words, you designed it wrong from the get-go and got caught out by people who knew what they were doing.

  10. I have to agree unfortunately. This year was essentially 'emptyfloorspacecon2k14' they get two years to sort their shit out and if it's no better then i'm giving up with this team.

    1. There were more attendees this year than last year, it just felt like there were less because of the much bigger spaces in the venue.

    2. They haven't published any numbers yet, so how do you know?

    3. Anon is probably part of their disaster of a staff and is trying to damage control. All cons bump up their numbers, some more than others.

  11. I think the ceiling height makes more of a difference than anything else. That enormous room makes the stage and set up feel really tiny.

  12. I spoke to Graham Lord (the attendee manager or something idk) and he confirmed numbers were above 1000.

    1. Buck greatly fiddle their numbers. Fuck off were there 1000 people on 1 day. Those 1000 people will be day1 + day2 + ssc = we are not a failure.

    2. They said both 1200 and 1400 last year, and over 700 the year before (which was closer to 650). If they say 1000 people now, I reckon they had about 7-800. First long-standing con to have negative growth. And they even spent buttloads more money this time, what a load of idiots.
