Brony Fan Fair calls it quits

The Hub isnt the only thing announcing it's end today. Brony Fan Fair, a con slated for Austin Texas, made a short post today, declaring that it will NOT be returning for 2015.

So long BFF.

Update: Full post
Greetings, everypony:
It is with sadness that we must announce that Brony Fan Fair’s retirement and will not be returning for the 2015 year. This decision was made based on a number of factors and was under discussion for some time, but ultimately, I felt I can no longer provide a quality experience for our attendees at Brony Fan Fair as I must pursue my life goals to support my fiancĂ©e and family.
To those who have been with us since the beginning in 2012, thank you so much for supporting our convention. I’ve heard so much about us since then and could not help but to smile when I think about the 900 people in attendance in that small space. I remember my panic when we saw how many people were there in those two days. It was wild, wasn’t it?
To those who we’ve only recently made an acquaintance, thank you for coming out – I hope that our convention was able to provide a great experience for you that you’ll never forget. Our mission was to provide a fun and welcoming environment for everyone to enjoy. I believe we’ve succeeded in doing just that in the three years we’ve been operating. The only proof I needed were your smiles.
Sadly, those of you who were looking to join us in the future will not be able to join us at Brony Fan Fair. For that, I’m sorry I won’t be able to provide you with a Brony Fan Fair experience in Austin.
However, there are other Texas-based My Little Pony conventions that we’ll endorse if you’re looking for more pony conventions in Texas.
The first is Nightmare Nights Dallas, coming up in October 24th-26th at the Crowne Plaza in Addison, Texas. Theirs is a solid My Little Pony convention that will see the likes of actress Tabitha St. Germain (Rarity, Princess Luna) and writer M.A. Larson. The convention is only a three-hour drive from Austin and is supported by the hardworking folks at Phoenix Media Entertainment Group, who also support Project: A-kon, the largest anime convention in Texas.
If you’re looking for a convention in Houston, our inside sources say Fiesta Equestria will be returning summer 2015. I can’t tell you any more other than our friends at both Nightmare Nights Dallas and Fiesta Equestria are determined to bring you more pony for your needs.
I want to thank my staff and volunteers from all three Brony Fan Fairs for helping me run this convention. More specifically, I’d like to thank: Michael Loredo for walking me through this utterly unique experience, Melissa Henderson for being a great support for our dealers during our first two years, Matthew Shempert for just bringing positive energy to the team, & Towa Peacock for bringing logistical/operational advice and your troubleshooter team. I’ve met many people through my experience of running Brony Fan Fair and though this phase of my life is over, I know that these friendships will continue.
Thank you again so much for supporting our convention. It meant a lot to me.
Best regards,
Peter C. Jiang
Brony Fan Fair Chairman
P.S. Among my other pursuits is Ushicon, an anime convention organized exclusively for those 18 years or older. This year will be its 10th official year. Check us out if you’re interested in celebrating Japanese animation and fandom culture amongst mature individuals!

  1. Ooh, I think I see the end of the road sign on the horizon!

    1. >implying the end of the road means the end of the ride

  2. Hey, a year's notice beats a week's notice.

  3. The ride slowly grinds to a halt....

  4. Texas has two now, Fiesta Equestria and Nightmare Nights, one summer and one late fall. Fiesta Equestria lost a lot of attendees this year as well, so who knows if they'll be back next year.

    1. Weird thing is Nightmare Nights' sales are up 85% YTD. Revenue and room reservations are up even more than that. It's not a Texas thing, so your guess is as good as mine.

  5. As someone who attended this year's fan fair and the year before it, I am saddened that it had to end, but not all that surprised. ): Attendance wasn't as big this last year, and even though the guy who voices Big Mac was a barrel of laughs (his after dark, no cameras Q&A was hysterical, at one point he said "fuck me in the back pussy" in Big Mac's voice perfectly and I almost died) was one of the few really good panels at the place, a lot of the others seemed a bit half assed. RIP bronyfan fair ):
