Hasbro Stocks Soar; Beating Expecations

Similar to other events that have occurred over the past few months, the doom-saying that preceded Hasbro's 2016 full year investor update turned out to be wildly incorrect. 2016 was Hasbro's best year ever, which can only mean good things for Hasbro's properties, including MLP, going forward.

While other toy companies such as LEGO and Mattel suffered from reduced consumer confidence as well as the effects of a strong dollar, the success of Disney Princess as well as Trolls seems to have been a boon for Hasbro. This is in contrast to gloomy expectations that the market predicted for Hasbro.

As for My Little Pony itself, though there was a decline in the United States, thanks to international sales, it grew overall. Of note in regards to the division between boys and girls' toys in reporting, starting with their next release Hasbro will no longer gender their sales reports. It's unknown how much MLP's popularity affected this.
