We're still here.

Let's be honest, nothing lasts forever.

If I told you 5 years ago you would be watching a cartoon show for little girls, actively participitang in the most unexpected fandom that formed comprised mainly of adult male fans. Actively participating to the point you will be reading a "news" blog for colorful miniature fictional horses. You'd probably shoot me then and there. And yet, here we are.

Remember the moment you fell in love with the show? My Little Pony, of all things. Waking up early just to catch it live. Staying up late to catch livestreams alongside unknown people on the internet. It was magical. Every frame was watched, even the irrelevant background. Fanworks are plentiful. Love it or hate it, it was something to talk about. Conversations of which could easily spin out of control. Arguments are commonplace. Because even until now, no one can be truly sure who is best pone. It was a bit endearing really, arguing all day. It grows on you. And from the outside perspective, it looked pretty pathetic. People laughing at us. We laughed at them in return. All that drama, it was delivered by the truckload in this fandom. Every little thing produced drama. It was taxing, truth be told, as the source could stem from everything, even the staff's own words. Even then, staff interacted with the fans. People waited with bated breath for each statement. No matter what was said people would celebrate and people would be pissed. No one can please anyone, but it didn't matter anyway.

Because at it's deepest level, it brought joy to life. But life differs from people to people.

I will not candycoat my words, I will not shovel bullshit down your throat. Not everyone's living a peachy life. For being a fan of a show about forming friendships, some of us don't even have them. Some use the show as an emotional crutch just to get through the shitty day in this shitty life. Some come from broken families, ruined relationships and unmet expectations. Some treat this show as a drug, addicted in all its shape and form. Some use the show as a cover, they hide in its community to remove themselves from the gripping void that is real life. It's not pretty. It's not supposed to be.

And when the show ends?

At the time of writing, the show is reaching the halfway point of season 4 and season 5 was just confirmed. It won't happen anytime soon. But I guarantee, it will happen. There's joke on /mlp/ saying how the ride never ends, the ride pertaining to the show and the fandom. It was tossed around like it's some sort of a never ending curse that you can't get out of. But there's a comforting solace in it, hearing how it will not end. but that is naivety talking. After the show, what now? I will not say things will not be better. I don't know. You don't know. It could be better. It could be worse. But that's the beauty of the future, it's uncertain. Who knows, gen 5 could be better. Because really who could say. Wake up one day 30 years from now and look back and you would probably miss everything. Go to the board one day and see an error 404. wake up a Saturday morning to nothing but breakfast and the morning paper. No more drama. No more art. No more music. No more show. No more arguements.

Because let's be honest, nothing lasts forever.

But that's alright. Because the ride never ends.

  11. Personally I can't wait for FiM to end. There's a certain amount of uncertainty going into never knowing what the end of something is like and being able to look back at it in disgust. It gives me hope to hear that at some point this nightmare of horse faggotry might finally be over. However the rational part of my brainface tells me that it never will be. Mlp will be the first show since doctor and the simpsons to extend towards infinity. And even if in 200 years, the show somehow manages to end, the fans will carry the torch, carrying on the message of colourful horses to future generations with religious fanaticism. I hope and pray it will end every day, but in my heart I know it won't.
